Challenges and Emotions
Always Go Vertical to God
Like with all my newsletters this is my interpretation of the things that I have heard. This newsletter is from a sermon that was being preached at my church. I hope that some of the things resonate with you.
It’s a challenge to do things differently because it is uncomfortable but if we learn to humble ourselves and allow God to teach us, we will learn new things. He might bring people or things into our lives that we may not like but if we learn to be open to whatever comes our way Gods plan will come to life. One thing to remember is to always keep moving forward no matter how you feel and never give up and quit because something gets hard. God uses our challenges to build our character and make us better. He will equip us with the strength that we need for any battles we face but we must learn to go vertical by praying. Remember your battle is not against flesh and blood, a person, it is against the enemy. The enemy coming against us are the funky feelings we feel, and we must fight back with God by our side so turn your back on the funky feelings and pray. Getting guidance from God happens when we go vertical or when we read the Word.
Emotions are great indicators that something is wrong but never let your emotions guide you or lead you, instead hold steady and give yourself time with God to discuss your emotions and feelings with Him. Ask God what you should do next or how do you respond to the situation. Always respond don’t react. Keep it matter of fact after you have gone vertical. Do what is in front of you and don’t think about the future because after all tomorrow hasn’t come. Do one thing at a time. May the joy of the Lord be your strength while you do things in the moment and keeping it matter of fact. Don’t worry about what’s to come only focus on the now, not the past or the future just the present. You can look at the struggle but look at God and acknowledge Him. The bully here is the enemy, and he will try to stop you from moving forward or will try to keep you stuck in the past. He uses suggestion to capture our mind by instilling fear, anxiety, depression, funky feelings, or anger God will never lead us to those feelings. When you feel those feelings go to God, control your emotions, hold steady and keep it matter of fact. Ask God to bind the enemy from the struggles that are in your life. You can say “by the power and authority of Jesus Christ I bind and cast out the enemy.” Don’t just sit there like a pinata and allow the enemy to hit you with poor self-esteem, depression, fear, anxiety, low patience, anger, frustration, or any emotion. Don’t be his pinata. Ask God to step in to fight your battle against the enemy.
