For the past few days, I’ve been telling myself that I have writer’s block.
But the more I sat in silence with God, the more I realized that wasn’t true at all.
I wasn’t out of words.
I was simply listening to the wrong voices.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped and started thinking about why I started writing in the first place. Instead of asking, “Lord, what do You want me to share?” I found myself asking questions like:
What are people searching for? What title will get more clicks? What thumbnail will perform the best? Should I wear makeup? What does the algorithm want today?
Without realizing it, I had shifted my focus from being led by the Holy Spirit to trying to perform well on social media.
Performance slowly replaced purpose.
And that’s never where God intended me to live.
The reason I started this newsletter wasn’t to chase numbers. It wasn’t to build an audience or become successful online. I started writing because I wanted to share the countless ways God meets me in ordinary moments. I wanted to write about how the Holy Spirit gently leads us, comforts us, corrects us, and reminds us that we are never walking through life alone.
So, this week, I’m getting back to the basics.
I’m putting YouTube on hold for a while.
Instead, I’m returning to something that has always brought me joy, writing these newsletters and recording them as audio so those who prefer listening, or who simply can’t read, can still hear the message. That was the vision from the very beginning, and it feels like home.
As I sat wondering what I should write this week, I realized something beautiful.
Maybe I don’t need some profound revelation.
Maybe I simply need to remind both myself and you of the things God has already been teaching us.
Life isn’t about performing.
It’s about listening. Listening to the quiet whispers of the Holy Spirit. Listening to the gentle nudges that remind us to slow down, forgive, serve, and trust.
It’s about finding gratitude in the tiniest blessings that we often overlook—a cool breeze on a hot day, an unexpected smile, a friend checking in, a warm meal, laughter with family, the sunrise that quietly announces another day of God’s mercy.
Those things aren’t ordinary. They’re gifts.
It’s about humbling ourselves enough to admit we don’t have all the answers. It’s remembering that we don’t have to be perfect because Jesus already accomplished what we never could. It’s taking care of the bodies and minds God entrusted to us. It’s caring for the people He places in our path. It’s looking for small glimmers of hope in the middle of painful seasons instead of allowing darkness to convince us that hope no longer exists. It’s thanking God for the blessings we didn’t have to receive but He lovingly gave anyway. It’s remembering that God is still our Provider when finances feel uncertain.
He is still our Healer when our bodies or hearts are hurting.
He is still our Heavenly Father when we feel forgotten.
And He is still working, even when we can’t see it.
Romans 8:28 reminds us:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” (NIV)
Even when you feel like you’ve fallen into the deepest pit, God hasn’t abandoned you there. He is using that season to shape you.
Gold is refined by fire. Pressure removes impurities so something stronger and more beautiful can emerge.
In much the same way, God often uses difficult seasons to refine our faith, strengthen our character, and draw us closer to Him.
Maybe you don’t feel broken because you are broken.
Maybe you feel broken because God is building something new within you.
Piece by piece. Day by day. Prayer by prayer. You’re becoming someone who trusts Him more deeply than before.
So, if everything around you feels like it’s falling apart, don’t lose heart. Keep taking the next step. Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep showing up.
Build your life on the only foundation that never shakes, the foundation of Jesus Christ.
And remember what Jesus said in Matthew 17:20:
“...If you have faith as small as a mustard seed... nothing will be impossible for you.” (NIV)
God has never asked us to have perfect faith. He simply asks us to have faith.
Even if it’s as small as a mustard seed.
Sometimes, getting back to the basics is exactly where God has been waiting for us all along.

When we stop chasing performance and start pursuing God’s presence, we rediscover the peace, purpose, and joy we were created for. The Holy Spirit doesn’t ask us to be impressive; He asks us to be available.
